Detailed Objective: This project studies the effects of time use, time constraints, work demands, role strains, and coping mechanisms on children's diets and obesity risk. A survey of 300 households, with single parents oversampled, will provide detailed information for the analysis.

The project will use a multidisciplinary approach to study the effects of time allocations, time constraints and pressures, work demands, role strains, and coping mechanisms on children's dietary habits, dietary quality, and risk of obesity. The survey will collect detailed information on time usage, dietary intake, and socioeconomic characteristics. The project will improve our understanding of how the food assistance programs can best serve the working poor.
