Institution: Agricultural Research Service, USDA |

Detailed Objective: This project develops a set of standardized instruments for the measurement and
assessment of community food security at the local level. This project provides
support to the Agricultural Research Service's Delta Nutrition Intervention Research
Initiative (Delta NIRI) for a field test of a community food security assessment
tool kit in Drew County, Arkansas. The menu of instruments in the community food
security assessment tool kit will be accompanied by implementation descriptions
that will facilitate data collection and analysis at the local level. Survey and
focus group instruments from the draft Community Food Security Tool Kit were field
tested in Drew County in September 2000 by staff from the Arkansas Children's
Hospital. Work will include secondary data collection, analysis, and interpretation. |
